The project was convened by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment with the intent to establish international Centres of excellence for disability sports (COEDS) at right places for the development of Sports for the disabled and provide training facilities at par, to compete and win Paralympics, Deaflympics, Special Olympics and other International events. The design team worked closely with the Athletes, Administrators and research scholars to develop the fully accessible centre with the ability to train and host more than 20 sports. The indoor and outdoor facilities cater to the specific challenges of the athletes and motivate young people with disabilities to participate and provide them with the environment to train and compete in the Global Stage.
